As Ireland’s most recent lifestyle concept store, Red Earth has built a respected reputation in a relatively short space of time (having just opened their doors in 2011) through their commitment to bringing quality and affordability right across the store including lifestyle, giftware, fashion and their highly regarded food hall. Their spring fashion lines have landed in store and I called in last week to have a look at their key pieces for this season.
The first look (photo 1) on Stacey is a great example of how you can combine comfortable pieces to create a simple yet stylish outfit. These jeans with delicate diamante detailing along the side are by the bespoke Danish jean brand, Pieszak, who pride themselves on “balancing comfort and fit with sophistication and sassy chic”. The Emu wedge boots reiterate this testament. A cute TMX t-shirt with appliqué detailing teamed under a Noa Noa soft leather jacket is a great go-to option for a smart-casual look. The overall look is classically monochrome so, befitting to the colourful season ahead, the addition of a red Smith & Canova handbag carries this look from winter into spring.
In keeping with classic tones, Sharon models another pair of Pieszak jeans, this time with a coated film to give an almost wax like effect to the jean (photo 2). This style is just a step up from the more casual denim jean and is a great alternative when it comes to dressing a little more glamorous. The powder pink top, by Noa Noa, is such a flattering shade for this season and really compliments the mink suede jacket (Soaked in Luxury). This jacket is my favourite piece from the spring collections at Red Earth as it is so versatile and can be worn in so many ways. It is also a great piece to have for your summer holidays (dare I think that far ahead!), when we all need to be economical with our packing, as the colour will match everything and it is light enough for travelling. The accessories, including this beautiful necklace by Knight and Day and, in my opinion, an “every-wardrobe-must-have” handbag by Fiorelli, finishes off what can only be described as a timeless ensemble- a label that can be attributed to every brand at Red Earth.
Moving on to elegance and glamour for our third look (photo 3) where Stacey models this stunning Isle Jacobsen wrap dress. Some of you may be more familiar with Isle Jacobsen’s outerwear and in particular her rainwear, which we will see in another of our looks, but she also has a great selection of everyday woman’s wear including her hallmark wrap effect stretch dress. Everything about this cobalt dress is flattering- the long sleeves which hide your arms (one of Irish women’s least favourite body parts), the wrap effect around the waist creating curves and a waist all at once and also the length of the hemline which stops at the most flattering point of your leg just below the knee. This dress ticks all of the boxes. And if that wasn’t enough, the necklace, watch and bracelet by Dyrberg/Kern add that little touch of sparkle and understated elegance.
What struck me the most when in Red Earth was the concept of genuine heritage pieces throughout their brands. Rather than providing customers with trendy seasonal items that have a lifespan of a few months before they are no longer “trendy”, they focus on providing brands such as Isle Jacobsen, Joules and Hunter that will see us through many seasons because they fit the Red Earth ethos of “creating a contemporary feel while still imposing our traditional values”. This is particularly evident in our final look.
Sharon models a trademark Isle Jacobsen raincoat, over a pair of White Stuff jeans, which matches perfectly with the cornflower Hunter wellington boots (photo 4). There is a vast array of colours to choose from should you shop for Hunter wellies in Red Earth. They also stock kids sizes so the whole family will be well prepared for any spring showers they encounter. Oh, and FYI, Victoria’s Secret model Alessandro Ambrossio was spotted wearing Hunters in LA last week during their uncharacteristic rainy days, so you’ll be in good company wearing these!
